Gary LaTurner, Artist Statement

I enjoy trying new media and experimenting with the latest tools and equipment. Drawing and painting have always been my favorite ways to express myself. I enjoy working at home in my studio. Most of my artwork is inspired by nature with a twist of creative observation, memory and interpretation. My goal is to create paintings as opposed to creating a picture of a place. I’m interested in the texture, color, line, and spaces in a painting. I enjoy mixing new colors and strong accents of dark and light in a painting. I never lose interest in painting it’s an important part of my life. I am currently using oil sticks on canvas.

Gallery 2017 is located in the Council Chambers at Enumclaw City Hall. 1339 Griffin Ave. Enumclaw, WA 98022. Hours for the exhibition space are 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Enumclaw City Hall is closed on national holidays. Gallery 2017 is closed to the public on Tuesday of each week for municipal court proceedings.
